Work is not the same as business prosperity
Shigoto-un is about the individual doing the work: a job found, a promotion, a project that lands or a skill that develops. Shobai hanjo is the prosperity of an enterprise. The English categories overlap in the way real requests overlap, but the distinction helps you decide what you are actually asking for.
Kanda: a working shrine, not a career slogan
Kanda Myojin is the tutelary shrine of the neighbourhood associations around Kanda, Nihonbashi and Otemachi–Marunouchi, as well as the Toyosu fish market. Its official profile describes that living constituency, and its online offering catalogue includes protection for IT equipment alongside business-related items. Companies and individuals can therefore approach the same shrine with different kinds of work in mind.
An ordinary visit to the offering box is one way to make a request. Kanda Myojin accepts individual formal prayers, including business prosperity, without an advance reservation. Its published reception time is 9:00–15:45, subject to change. Company prayers for business prosperity use a separate route and accept reservations by phone.
Other entries: read the religion before the wish
Fushimi Inari is also listed here because its official sources connect the shrine to the material basis of living and describe torii dedication as an expression of gratitude. Its FAQ uses the language of a wish passing or having passed. Bring your own work-related request, with no promise of a promotion or another outcome.
Kiyomizu-dera is a Buddhist temple, even though it appears alongside Shinto shrines in this category. At the temple, use joined palms and its own prayer instructions; do not transfer the two-clap shrine sequence.
